In this interview, MAJ Susan McConnell, US Army, JAG; discusses her deployment to Afghanistan as a brigade judge advocate for 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Air Assault in 2010 through 2011 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). MAJ McConnell talks about her pre-deployment training and preparing for her deployment to Afghanistan. She describes her immediate thoughts into country and talks about her first couple of days at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Pasab. She talks about sharing living quarters with 20 to 30 other females and describes some logistical challenges she had as a female. She details a typical day and shares her day-to-day missions and talks about her brigade working alongside the Afghanistan National Army (ANA). She shares a difficult challenge that she had to overcome and reflects on her deployment experience. MAJ McConnell discusses her welcome home ceremony and closes her interview by stating, "Really study up on the area that you are going to."
