In this interview, MAJ Alfred Anderson, US Army, Engineer; discusses his deployment to Iraq as an assistant operations officer in 2009 through 2010 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). MAJ Anderson talks about his pre-deployment training and describes about how it did not really prepare him for deployment. MAJ Anderson shares a story about researching a project and describes some difficult challenges he faced with different personalities in his unit. MAJ Anderson compares his deployment experiences and closes his interview by discussing a couple of his lessons learned, "If you can deploy as a platoon leader that is probably your best bet. The second best would be as a company commander and you definitely want to stay away from being the assistant to somebody else."
