In this interview, MAJ Randall Newman, US Army, Logistics; discusses his deployment to Iraq in 2006 through 2007 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). MAJ Newman talks about his pre-deployment training in preparing for his deployment. Newman discusses his major responsibilities once he arrived in country and shares a typical day after he got settled. Newman describes the relationship he had with the Iraqi civilians and contractors and talks about his role on the convoy operations. MAJ Newman shares some difficult challenges he faced during his deployment and closes his interview by stating, "I think that the biggest lesson learned from an MCT perspective is to have a larger, more robust team that is more flexible and able to adjust to the mission, rather than building the team to the mission earlier."
