In this interview, MAJ Matthew Linehan, US Army, Logistics; discusses his deployment to Afghanistan as a company commander in 2005 through 2006 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). MAJ Linehan talks about being the 14th person in his company and building it up to capacity. MAJ Linehan discusses the handoff from the unit leaving country and describes his day-to-day mission supporting the local aviators. MAJ Linehan shares a difficult challenge with having to fire his first sergeant and shares a specific memory of losing one of his mechanics in theater. MAJ Linehan closes his interview by stating, "One of the most important things that I think I did for my company over there as the company commander was that I tried to be there for them."
