In this interview, MAJ Dale Jones, Army, Adjutant General; discusses his 13-month deployment to Iraq as a postal commander in 2007 through 2008 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). MAJ Jones talks about his missions with working in the Joint Military Mail Terminal and described his day-to-day operations with processing mail for FOB Liberty, FOB Taji, FOB Falcon, FOB Rustamiyah, FOB Union and FOB Victory. MAJ Jones talks about the X-ray system used in the mail terminal and describes the typical mail flow from the US to country. MAJ Jones describes the mood during the Surge and closes his interview by stating, "I think one of the biggest [lessons learned] that I would like to highlight is just the knock-on effects of when you have a Surge operation. A lot of things don't get thought of when moving these combat troops into theater."
