In this interview, MAJ Peter Gray, US Army, Field Artillery (FA); discusses his 12 month deployment to Iraq as the battery commander of Alpha Battery 3-320th FA, 3rd Brigade of the 101st in 2005 through 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). MAJ Gray discusses his pre-deployment training and how it prepared him for his deployment. MAJ Gray talks about his first reaction upon arriving in country and describes his major responsibilities at Al Dujayl near Baghdad. He describes a typical day in country and some missions that he was directly involved with. MAJ Gray talks about some difficult challenges he overcame with his first sergeant, acknowledges his successes and closes his interview by stating, “I was fortunate that I brought every single member of my battery home.”
