In this interview, MAJ Randy Jeter, US Army, Logistics; discusses his 12 month deployment to Iraq as part of Military Transition Team (MiTT) in 2006 through 2007 in support of Operation Iraq Freedom (OIF). MAJ Jeter discusses his pre-deployment training at Fort Carson and how it prepared him for working alongside the Iraqis. MAJ Jeter shares his experience with working alongside his Iraqi counterpart and discusses the camaraderie throughout his MiTT. MAJ Jeter talks about his logistical advisor responsibilities of establishing accountability for all of the Iraqi equipment and how he was able to implement a hand receipt system. MAJ Jeter shares a specific memory from his deployment experience and talks about his reintegration process post deployment. MAJ Jeter closes his interview by stating, “An [Iraqi] military structure does exist and they actually have a plan on how they want to execute certain things but they just need the military guidance to do all of that.”
