In this interview, MAJ Andrew Bellocchio, US Army, Aviation; discusses his deployment to Afghanistan as the assistant professor and advisor for the National Military Academy of Afghanistan in 2008 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). MAJ Bellocchio discusses why he volunteered to deploy to Kabul in support of West Point to advise Afghan professors on civil engineering. MAJ Bellocchio describes the relationship he developed in working alongside younger and older Afghani professors and how he was able to advise and critique for successful curriculum development. MAJ Bellocchio talks about some difficult challenges he overcame and closes his interview by noting the importance of being directly involved with the Afghanis and to get engaged in to their everyday life.
