MAJ David Law served as the logistics officer (S4) with 1st Battalion Attack, 3rd Infantry Division (ID) in Baghdad, Iraq in 2003 and with a military transition team (MiTT) in Baghdad and Wasit Province, Iraq during 2009 and 2010 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In this April 2011 interview, MAJ Law discusses this mission of an attack battalion, the lack of training for his first deployment, and the improvements he noticed in training for his second deployment. MAJ Law concludes his interview with the observation, "[T]he only think I can possibly say is that we should have less frequency of deployments. For me, two deployments in seven or eight years isn't bad. That's pretty good compared to other people. My peers and the people I work with above and below have been very emotional about the number of deployments they've been on. I believe that most people I've spoken to believe in the mission and they think we're doing the right thing, but the number of deployments take an emotional strain as well as a strain on the family."
