MAJ Greg Rogers served as the deputy director of operation on a Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) in Jalalabad, Afghanistan during 2008 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and as intelligence advisor on a Stability Transition Team (STT) in Baghdad, Iraq during 2009 and 2010 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In this March 2011 interview, MAJ Rogers discusses the challenges of serving on a team concerned with the reconstruction of civil infrastructure as an infantry officer, the further challenges of working a joint operation with the US Air Force, US Department of Agriculture and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and his work in Iraq advising and assisting an Iraqi Army brigade on stability efforts in an ever-changing operational environment. MAJ Rogers concludes his interview with the observation, "I think we need to do a better job of identifying what the requirement is, what the job entails, and who would be best suited to do that job."
