In this January 2011 interview MAJ Klaudius Robinson discusses his 2005-2006 deployment to Iraq as an Armor officer and a troop commander for Bravo Troop, 8-10 CAV out of Fort Hood, Texas. MAJ Robinson describes the pre-deployment training and unit formation his organization went through prior to deployment, what a typical day was like in theater, and how his troop managed an area of operations (AO) that encompassed one fifth of Baghdad. MAJ Robinson concludes his interview by stating that a major lesson learned on this deployment is the impact that leadership has on a unit. He states, "From the squadron level on down, the leaders were held accountable. Leaders needed to be present. You needed to be out with your guys. You needed to instill what you were trying to accomplish to the most junior level and you had to get all of your leaders to buy in on what you were trying to do."
