In this March 2009 interview MAJ Tamara Funari, Army Nurse Corps discusses her two-year assignment to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) in Germany in support of the Global War on Terror (GWOT). MAJ Funari describes a typical day and typical duties as the head nurse on the Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), and GWOT ward as well as her typical day spent as charge nurse of the orthopedic clinic. MAJ Funari explains the challenges she faced working 60 plus hours a week and dividing her time between her duties at LRMC and with the 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital (MASH), later transformed to a CSH, that she was also assigned to. MAJ Funari concludes her interview by stating that the Army Nurse Corps and the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) in general, could use more big Army training and training on leadership.
