In this interview MAJ Tage Rainsford discusses his deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) in March 2004 with the 2-27th Infantry Regiment in the 3rd Brigade of the 25th Infantry Division (ID). MAJ Rainsford describes challenges he had in arriving in country and establishing operations with his company at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Orgun. MAJ Rainsford eloquently discusses the missions he and his company performed while deployed and the successes and challenges they had throughout the year. MAJ Rainsford concludes his interview by stating that the biggest lessons he learned were that we need to get off the big FOBs and out with the people and most importantly to, "Kill them with kindness," in order to see improvements in the country.
