MAJ Daniel Grieve served as fire support officer (FSO) with the 3-505th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR) in Kandahar, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Salerno, FOB Orgun-E and FOB Khost, Afghanistan during 2002 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and as a member of a Military Transition Team (MiTT) in Mahmoudiyah, Iraq during 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In this November 2010 interview, MAJ Grieve discusses his various missions at multiple locations in Afghanistan, his limited preparation to serve on a MiTT, and the of challenges that MiTT's mission to Iraq. MAJ Grieve concludes the interview with a discussion of some of the problems with MiTTs, and the ways that the newer Advise and Assist Brigades (AABs) addressed those issues.
