United States Marine Corps Maj David Stengrim served as the communications officer (S6) with the 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) in Kandahar, Afghanistan during 2008 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF). In this November 2010 interview, Maj Stengrim discusses the organization of a MEU, his unit's mission to establish and improve communications at various forward operating bases (FOBs) in Afghanistan, and the challenges of the handoff to the incoming unit at the end of his deployment.
