In this third of a three-part interview, MAJ James Kristolaitis continues his discussion about his deployments in support of the Global War on Terror (GWOT). MAJ Kristolaitis takes us through his third deployment to OIF as the company commander for the 41st Transportation Company out of Vilseck, Germany in March 2005. MAJ Kristolaitis walks us through the deployment process and the challenges he faced when he arrived at LSA Anaconda where he would be stationed for the 12 months he was there. After they arrived his company missions changed a few times but eventually he was tasked with providing convoy security as well as line haul. To do this he had to create a security platoon and train them up on current procedures. As a result his platoon was so good at what they did that they were requested by contractors to be their security escorts when they had to go out on convoys. MAJ Kristolaitis describes the handoff with the incoming artillery unit coming out of Fort Sill, Oklahoma and the challenges associated with it. MAJ Kristolaitis states that his most proud accomplishment was that he was able to bring everyone home safely.
