In this interview MAJ Michelle Williams discusses her deployment to Baghdad, Iraq from October 2003 until February 2004 as the Alpha Detachment commander for the 208th Finance Battalion out of Mannheim, Germany. She didn't originally deploy with the detachment but was sent in later on to assume duties as the commander. Luckily for MAJ Williams the transition was seamless and her unique company made up of Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard Soldiers all gelled well. Aside from one very random rocket attack on her NCO's living quarters where no one was injured, her time spent in Iraq was fairly uneventful. MAJ Williams discusses how the structure of Finance has changed over the years and how important this will be for the future of conducting finance operations on the battlefield.
