In this interview MAJ Scott Gibbs discusses his experiences as a National Guard officer serving as an Inspector General (IG) deployed to Kosovo with the 29th INF and the 35th INF from 2006 until 2008. MAJ Gibbs describes the importance of being fair, firm, and consistent as an IG and how vital that is to being a successful IG. He talks about the uniqueness of the IG position and how an IG can help, not hinder a commander. MAJ Gibbs concludes his interview by stating that on his upcoming deployment to Iraq he will encourage commanders to get in front of any issues before they get to big and to use their IG to benefit them.
