MAJ Kevin Madrigal served as a B52 navigator and operational planner with the 96th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron (EBS) for several deployments during 2004 and 2005 out of Diego Garcia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In this November 2009 interview, MAJ Madrigal discusses his deployments in support of both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, focusing particularly on a rescue operation of downed helicopter pilots in Afghanistan, Operation Anaconda, and Operation Achilles. MAJ Madrigal concludes his interview with the observation, "It seems like we accomplished so much, or that I was allowed to do so much, by virtue of having leadership that was willing to provide me an extremely wide path to operate and essentially do whatever I wanted. I've carried that with me since then and in subsequent positions I've had at the Air Force Weapons School, I keep integrating it into the way I operate and the way I treat people who work for me."
