MAJ Del Monroy served on a Military Transition Team (MiTT) during 2007 and 2008 in Mosul, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In this January 2009 interview, MAJ Monroy discusses the deficiencies of his training at Fort Riley, Kuwait and Camp Taji, his integration with his Iraqi counterparts once he arrived in theater, and the ongoing problems with the Iraqi NCO corps. MAJ Monroy concludes his interview with the observation: " It's all about interpersonal relationships when you're on a MiTT; how that guy perceives you and whether or not he's willing to be your friend is what it's all about. You have to build that friendship before you can tell him to do anything."
