MAJ E. Keith Rowsey served with a military transition team (MiTT) that was part of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division in Mosul, Iraq during 2008 and 2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF). In this October 2009 interview, MAJ Rowsey discusses his role advising the Iraqi Army 2nd Motor Transport Regiment, the challenges presented by the differences between Iraqi and US Army culture, the strong relationships he formed with some of his Iraqi counterparts, and the overall strong performance of female soldiers on his team despite the inadequacies of basic life support to easily accommodate male and female soldiers in the same unit. MAJ Rowsey concludes his interview by stating that "I couldn't wait to leave, but now I kind of miss some of the Iraqis that I worked with. I was very fortunate to have that opportunity."
