MAJ Andy Dziengeleski served as the Chief of Force Management under the CJ3 directorate in Bagram, Afghanistan during 2005 and 2006 in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In this February 2009 interview, MAJ Dziengeleski discusses his pre-deployment training, the challenges he faced as an individual augmentee, and his unit's daily activities and special mission supporting the Pakistan earthquake relief efforts. MAJ Dziengeleski makes the observation that "joint staffing is not the panacea that we think it might be," and concludes his interview by questioning the worth of the individual augmentee system and suggests that it adversely affects unit cohesion and effectiveness.
