Major Doug Hayes, US Air Force, served as the information management officer for the joint operations center of Multinational Corps-Iraq at Camp Victory, Iraq, from May through October 2006 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He talks about the disjointed nature of deploying as an individual augmentee, the initial handoff, and the running of the joint operations center. He also discusses an Iraqi Army colonel he worked with, dealing with a subordinate who was a loose cannon, using the Australian Air Force to leave theater in a more timely manner, and the length of deployments. Hayes closes the interview by saying that there was very little support for his family while he was deployed.
