In this fourth of four interviews, Lieutenant Commander Ted Kleinberg talks about serving as the hangar deck officer onboard the USS Enterprise from July through December 2007 in the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. He discusses the ever-changing nature of the deployment and the resulting ship-wide shortage of personnel, his new duties and responsibilities as the ship's hangar deck officer, and some of the shipboard dangers his division had to mitigate. He also talks about the problems he had with the Marines working in his spaces, his humorous interaction with the Portuguese media, and the spectacle of breaking relationships that were always carried out on the hangar deck. He closes the interview by noting that the Army places a greater emphasis on education and that the Navy would do well to emulate that example.
