At the time of this interview, Major Timothy Payment was a veteran of two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the first in 2003 as commander of Bravo Company, 2-6 Infantry, during which they were given a portion of southeast Baghdad and tasked with setting the conditions for a stable environment; the second in 2007-2008 as a national police transition team (NPTT) leader, during which they coached, taught and mentored an Iraqi National Police battalion.
