The following is a summary of an interview which took place on 25 April 2008 between Bryan Karabaich, a military analyst at the Center for Army Lessons Learned (CALL) and Colonel Michael Ceroli. The summary discusses Colonel Ceroli's deployment as commander of the 8th PSYOP Battalion and the Joint PSYOP Task Force from June 2003 until June 2004 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During the course of this interview, Ceroli discusses military PSYOP presence in theater, command relationships and organizational structure, approving authorities and authorization to operate within the geographical boundaries of Iraq and Afghanistan, the division of operations focusing on foreign audiences and the US media separately, as well as lessons learned from this deployment.
