Captain Pamela S. Alexander worked in the III Corps communications section during her deployment to Iraq and, at mid tour, became company commander for 313th Signal Company in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom II. As a company commander she explains some of the doctrinal lessons learned and some of the problems they had to overcome during each phase of their deployment with an emphasis on force protection issues. She discusses the "hillbilly armor" they used to up-armor their vehicles. Alexander also discusses lessons learned and commercialization. Alexander discusses MSE and its usefulness, and her recommendations for the tactical and technical training of signal soldiers.
