In this third of three interviews, Major Mark Boeke talks about his deployment to Iraq as the communications officer for 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment during the fall of 2003 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He discusses how Rangers looked at branches and sequels for subsequent operations, how people not organic to the Rangers were assisting with the linguistic and cultural component of those branches and sequels, and how there was encouragement from the Ranger leadership for all members of the unit to get directly involved in operations. Boeke also talks about a daylight raid in Fallujah with Mogadishu in everyone's mind, the coordination with conventional forces and the armored cavalry troop which supported them, and the disruptive influence of Moqtada al-Sadr. He closes by saying that American forces are very resilient but their endurance is not infinite and caution must be used to ensure they are not over-stressed.
