Major Phuc Buu served as a staff officer, first as the Coalition Military Assistance Training Team officer for the Multinational Corps-Iraq Iraqi Security Force (ISF) cell, then as a liaison officer for Multinational Security Transition Command-Iraq to the ISF cell, in Baghdad, from January through September 2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. In this interview, he discusses how the various staff organizations are integrated to support the ISF, the difficulties involved in training and equipping the ISF (particularly the police) and how optimism and faith are qualities which best supported him on this deployment.
