The platoon sergeant for 2nd Platoon, Alpha Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Cavalry Regiment during Operation Phantom Fury (Al Fajr) , Sergeant First Class John Urrutia, in this interview, discusses his unit's role in the November 2004 combined-joint assault to retake the Iraqi city of Fallujah. He relates in detail the clearing of Jolan Park - his platoon's "main objective" - which was a key location "where the insurgents would get together and have meetings or prayers or any big demonstration." In addition, in this day-by-day account of the fight from his perspective, Urrutia talks about enemy and coalition tactics, the taking of casualties, his working relationship with Marine Corps units, the experience of having two Marine engineers attached to his platoon, the extensive captured enemy ordnance missions he participated in, and the vehicle-borne improvised explosive device factory his platoon secured.
