The National Anthem it states, "A home and Country should leave us no more?" and "Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!" (Key, 1814). However, less than one percent of combat-age American men and women serve to defend their country in the all-volunteer military. Life in the military is one of structure, discipline, and it teaches men and women how to live life with a purpose bigger than themselves. The purpose of this paper is to outline how America can repay it debt, and save Soldiers lives. Veteran Colonies can help prevent veteran suicide, while reducing the number of homeless veterans and veterans in jail or prison.
