The right of American citizens to declare and act upon their objections to war is indelible and absolute. It was these strong beliefs that played a role in ending conscription in the United States Military over thirty-five years ago. With the end of the draft came the rise of America's all-volunteer military. How then is it that within the ranks of America's armed services there are conscientious objectors who claim to have an ethical dilemma? This is a position that simply does not make sense and places the military in the difficult situation of figuring out what to do with these volunteers. The more prudent ethical dilemma is that the commitment these individuals made to their country is casted aside in favor of their own personal agenda.
