History serves the foundation for effective well reasoned decision making. Knowledge of military history allows leaders to better analyze modern experiences resulting and make sound judgments. This vision of history includes all aspects of operations throughout the war-fighting and support spectrum. As the Army evolves during this period of restricted resources an historic view of the employment of the total of force is necessary to maintain a responsive efficient force. This paper reviews the history of the American Revolution contrasted against modern day operations recounting lessoned learned throughout history.
