The purpose of this essay is to express the importance of studying military history by military professionals. It is important to study military history because it prepares soldiers for the challenges that lie ahead. First, this essay explains background information on military history. Secondly, it compares and contrasts three events: (1) the French-Algerian and Iraq/Afghanistan conflicts, (2) Vera Cruz, 1914 and full-spectrum operations, and (3) the desegregation of Little Rock Central High school and democracy in Iraq. These three situations will prove why studying military history is of great value.
