In late October 1999 the 30th Heavy Separate Brigade received a mission to provide one Armor and one Infantry Company to be attached to the 3rd Infantry Division Task Force to support the Stabilization Force 8 (SFOR 8) rotation in Bosnia-Herzegovina. The mission was to provide support and stabilization capabilities as part of a task force led by the 3rd Infantry Division out of fort Stewart, Georgia. This would mark the first time a National Guard unit would patrol in their own area of operations along with active duty units. 1 served as the Master Gunner and J-IQs Platoon Sergeant for Company B 1st Battalion 252d Armor leading the company through tank gunnery qualification during the train up.
