This paper covers some experiences serving as the First Sergeant for the Medical Hold Company. The opportunity to serve as a First Sergeant for the Medical Hold Company will probably remain as one of my challenging and most memorable times of my career in the United States Army. To say I learned a lot would be an understatement. I learned so much about myself, about people and soldiers, about leadership, and about the Army. The lessons learned have made me a better leader and have given me a great deal of respect for the men and women who all have sacrificed and spent time overseas. I gained something from all the experiences, both positive and negative. What was learned has given me insight to the soldiers who served overseas, and has made me a more conscious leader. In reflection, there are a lot of things I would have done differently, but I would not trade the experience in for anything.
