Most of the U.S. Army personnel do not have an indication of what a National Police Transition Team (NPTT) does. So, the question is what is the mission of the National Police Transition Team in Baghdad, Iraq? The primary mission of transition teams is to advise the security forces of Iraq in the areas of intelligence, communications, fire support, logistics, and infantry tactics. The aim is to make the Iraqi Security Forces capable of conducting independent counterinsurgency operations tactically, operationally, and logistically. In the next few pages, I will discuss my experience as the Team Noncommissioned Officers in charge for a NPTT.
