The Provost Marshal Office (PMO) of the Joint Maneuver Training Center (JMTC), Camp Grayling, was called to active duty to implement emergency security procedures following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Due to its unique composition of federal, state, and state military lands, Camp Grayling had always been operated as an "open" post, with few security systems in place. The PMO was tasked with writing and implementing basic procedures that would secure and control access to the main post cantonment area. I was responsible for developing the procedure to inspect, monitor and record the entrance of non-military members and vehicles onto the post, as well as providing general security coordination between the PMO and other security forces.
