The 12th Combat Aviation Brigade deployed to Iraq in support of OIF 07-09. Initially the brigade established its headquarters at Logistical Support Area (LSA) Anaconda located in Balad Iraq. After five months on station the 12'h CAB received orders to jump to Camp Taji for a period seven months and jump back to LSA Anaconda for the final three months of the deployment. At the conclusion of the rotation the l2'h CAB conducted a total of thee Relief in Place (RIP) and six Transitions of Authorities (TOA). This story tells of the operational security challenges faced by the Soldiers of the 12th CAB as a result of the multiple RIP's, counter measure put in place and the impact of vulnerabilities on the personal lives of the Soldiers and the mission.
