This paper tells the story of the HHC 3-116 CAV (AR) mobilization. The timeline will begin one month prior to mobilization and end with the change of mission. I will include issues unique to the National Guard and problems facing all mobilizing units. These actions took place in La Grande, Oregon and completed in Ft. Lewis, Washington. This information should shed some light on the problems reserve forces can face during active duty orders. I served as a section leader during this deployment due to a shortage of personnel in our battalion. My platoon was primarily from small rural areas in Eastern Oregon. The Unit I volunteered to serve with is located in La Grande, Oregon. The support platoon was short on soldiers and was in need of some help with tactical guidance. This is the story of the Support Platoon Warriors, HHC 3-116 CAY (AR), and our battalion.
