This paper describes my experiences and lessons learned as a company First Sergeant, Life Support Area Mayor and Division Headquarters Commandant that supported Task Force Marne's Division Headquarters in Multi-National Division-Center on Camp Victory during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Task Force Marne was one of the additional Division Headquarters deployed to spearhead the noteworthy and highly publicized "Surge" during operations in Iraq. During the fifteen month deployment I worked as a First Sergeant in a company of over 350 Soldiers, Department of the Army civilians and contractors. I was also the LSA Mayor responsible for housing over 1200 Military and civilian personnel. My last job title was that of Commandant to the Division Headquarters.
