This paper details some key events, activities, observant views, and lessons learned during the deployment of the 1st Battalion, 487th Field Artillery, Hawaii Army National Guard in 2008 to Camp Patriot, Kuwait Naval Base (KNB), Kuwait in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) VIII. The dialogue enclosed herein covers the unit's experiences in full spectrum sustainment support and force protection operations, and the actions Soldiers executed and how they dealt with accomplishing the mission successfully. This paper does not go into significant detail of the operation in order for the content to remain unclassified.
