1. Thesis Statement: To provide recommendations for the improvement of noncommissioned officer (NCO) Training. 2. Discussion: At the present time, leader development of NCOs' warfighting skills are not the same for combat arms, combat support and combat service support in either active component or reserve component forces. We feel all warfighting skills should be the same throughout the total force, which includes active and reserve components. At the present time, our competencies and skills are established by the threat capabilities. Our soldiers must be trained and led in such a way that they can meet and overcome whatever threat they may face in battle. 3. Conclusion: The United States Army depends heavily on the noncommissioned officer corps to teach, discipline, motivate and mentor the soldiers they lead in order to fight and win the next battle. If our proposed changes are implemented, our noncommissioned officer corps, and therefore our Army, will be better prepared to fight and defend our boundaries anywhere in the world.
