Thesis Statement: The attacks of September 11, 2001 accelerated the United States commitment towards combating terrorism at home and abroad. Discussion: After the attacks of September 11, 2001 the United States underwent a monumental transformation to combat terrorism. On the other hand, if all key governmental agencies i.e., CIA, NSA, FBI and local agencies would have shared information and the U.S. government be more proactive by allocating more funds on combating terrorism, we may or may not be in this present state today. Conclusion: The U.S. learned a hard lesson in the importance of working as a team towards one single effort. We will spend billions of dollars here and abroad to combat terrorism, however, the end state of terminating terrorism will not be achieved. Counterpoint: We as a nation have the most advance technologies today and are in the forefront for further advances. On the other hand, with an enemy that is difficult to identify, uses face-to-face methods of communication, and will die for his or her cause, we will never terminate this threat.
