Thesis: Convoy Operations have evolved over the last 45 years to meet the demand of the modem battlefield. Convoy security involves vital tasks that must be used by the United States military as the enemy has employed alternative fighting strategies during war. Company teams, cavalry troops, and larger elements perform army convoy or route security missions. Noncommissioned Officers across the spectrum of military occupational specialties are frequently called upon to provide escort security during the Iraqi conflict. Convoy security protection for convoys is directed at securing movement of troops and critical Army assets. Often NCOs who are tasked as escorts are poorly trained, and unprepared to carry out the task without severe consequences.
