The essential role of any soldier is to learn his skills and to apply those skills to accomplish the missions his leaders and the Army assign him. No greater example is there of a soldier's battle to persist and persevere in this objective than that of MSG Roy P. Benavidez. Through his long and hard career, MSG Benavidez learned from personal battles that raw courage and determination were the all important ingredients to successfully achieving his goals.
