WWII was an incredibly costly war for the United States, in both terms of lives and material. One thing that was showcased during the war was courage. During WWII 464 Medals of Honor were awarded, 324 were to Army personnel. Of the 324 Medal of Honor recipients, 122 were awarded to NCOs (http://www.cmohs.org/medaVmedal_stats.htm). One such NCO that stands out is 1 SG Leonard A. Funk Jr. 1 SG Funk was the most decorated airborne soldier of WWll.
