In this ethics paper I will discuss why I feel character development is a problem facing the Army today. The first portion of this paper will cover the background of what character development means in the Army. I will also, explain why character and beliefs play a major role in how an individual will adapt to Army values. The latter part of my ethics paper will pertain to Army Values, Warrior Ethos, Empathy, and it will address several examples of ethical dilemmas that I have witnessed throughout my Army career. Finally, the ethics paper will highlight a discussion on how character has an impact on an individual's ethical decision-making process during wartime and peacetime operations.
