As cited in FM 7-22.7, The Army Noncommissioned Officer Guide, "In today's operational environment, there are no front lines; there is no secured area. Every soldier must be prepared to attack or defend and win regardless of the conditions." In the full spectrum operations environment faced in today's military, the National Guard Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Teams, (CST (WMD)) play a significant role in supporting the domestic homeland defense role of the Department of Defense (Global Security.org 2008). A unique complement of training is completed by every soldier on the CST team. This training is complex, detailed and rigorous. No matter how successful soldiers are in completing the basic required training programs, the challenge soldier's face when undergoing CSER training is unique. As a CST Senior Operations NCO, you must develop a method of instruction which trains the tasks involved in CSER, and also incorporate physiological training needed to overcome fears associated with working in a confined space environment.
