As we look back through time, we find our US Military repeatedly unprepared and ready for war. Our military size fluctuates because the government has caused the military to draw down its size repeatedly through the years leaving the military unprepared to execute its primary mission at the outbreak of hostilities. Many feel that troop reduction will save money in the long run, but troop reduction negatively impacts military readiness. The quality NCOs and our military have to help make up for the loss of experience, shortage of operational expense, and continue to have a quality of life of our Soldiers and Family Members. With our nation at war, the battles of Iraq and Afghanistan pose long conflict with no current end in sight. The US government must carefully maintain a balance to ensure our readiness as a nation and helping our military meet their needs for today's mission and for the future wars.
